The Secretary-General met on 2 May with His Excellency Mr. Gabriel Boric, President of Chile, in Santiago.  The President and the Secretary-General exchanged views on the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East and on the situation in Haiti.

The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for the strong commitment of Chile to multilateralism and to the UN.  He underlined the excellent results of the Chilean presidency of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, as well as the leading role of Chile in climate action and protection of biodiversity and the oceans.

El Secretario General se reunió el 2 de mayo con el Excelentísimo Sr. Gabriel Boric, Presidente de Chile, en Santiago.  El Presidente y el Secretario General intercambiaron puntos de vista sobre los conflictos en Ucrania y en el Oriente Medio, y sobre la situación en Haití.

El Secretario General agradeció el fuerte compromiso de Chile con el multilateralismo y con la ONU.  Destacó los excelentes resultados de la presidencia chilena del Consejo Económico y Social de las Naciones Unidas, así como el papel de liderazgo de Chile en la acción climática y la protección de la biodiversidad y los océanos.
