Climate action has been speeding up in response to the climate crisis, with more and more governments, cities, and companies aligning their plans, policies and projections with the Paris Agreement—but much more effort is needed.

Eradicating hunger and food insecurity, as well as ensuring sustainable agriculture and natural resource management, is a central pillar of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As a UN High-Level Commissioner on Health Employment and Economic Growth, she has seen first-hand how our experiences and opportunities in childhood shape our future realities and potential: "If, from a young age, a girl or woman does not feel she has power over her own body, it can be a challenge for her to believe that she should run for public office." She also calls for transforming 'our cultural assumptions about what traits define leadership.'

The 2019 Global Sustainable Development Report (to be launched September 11) is a UN comprehensive publication aiming to strengthen the science-policy interface, and to provide political guidance on the eradication of poverty and on sustainable development at the international level. As a strong scientific, evidence-based instrument authored by independent scientists, this report plays a significant role in the follow-up to the 2030 Agenda. The report aims to help support policymakers at high-level forums including the Sustainable Development Goals Summit (24-25 Sept).
